ICONLOOP Launches COVID-19 Vaccination Record Service in Its DID Identity Verification App Zzeung
December 8, 2021, Seoul — ICONLOOP (CEO JH Kim), a leading Korean blockchain company, announced on the 8th that it is introducing a COVID-19 vaccination record service in Zzeung, its blockchain DID identity verification app.
The DID-based COVID-19 vaccination record service launching in Zzeung lets users securely store and manage on their mobile device the vaccination records verified by the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency. Because DID (Decentralized Identifier) technology means sensitive personal data is not stored on the operator's servers, the service is expected to maximize both personal data protection and user convenience.
After receiving a COVID-19 vaccination, installing the Zzeung app lets users immediately obtain and readily check the vaccination record certified by the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency. Users who obtain their vaccination record through Zzeung can see the dose number, vaccine type, vaccination date, and whether 14 days have elapsed since vaccination, all at once from the COVID-19 vaccination record banner on the home screen.
The service can also be used through the Jeju Safe Code electronic entry log within Zzeung. Jeju Safe Code is a service operated jointly by the Jeju Special Self-Governing Province and ICONLOOP to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and support efficient epidemiological investigation, used at some 50,000 multi-use facilities across the island by roughly 2 million users. Users can obtain their COVID-19 vaccination record in the Zzeung app and submit it together when checking in via the Jeju Safe Code QR code. The COVID-19 vaccination record service is also scheduled for application to the Jeju Safe Code app during December.
In June, ICONLOOP won the 2021 Blockchain DID Focus Program, run by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA), as part of a DID consortium formed with SKT, Raonwhitehat, and Coinplug. It has since pursued the DID-based COVID-19 vaccination record service in consultation with the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency.

ICONLOOP's DID-based COVID-19 vaccination record service can be used by downloading the Zzeung app from Google Play (Android) or the Apple App Store (iOS).
