ICONLOOP Appoints AMCHAM Korea Chairman James Kim as Advisor

Founded in May 2016, ICONLOOP is a leading Korean blockchain company that has applied its technology across a range of industries. It has grown rapidly, reaching some 160 employees within three years of its founding. Treating this year as the point at which blockchain enters the market in earnest, ICONLOOP is pursuing a range of initiatives to mature into a more established IT company.

Advisor James Kim brings three decades of experience at major global corporations, and that background is expected to create meaningful synergy at ICONLOOP. As a management expert recognized across the industry, he is expected to lend considerable momentum to the company's growth.

James Kim has served as chief executive at leading global corporations including GM Korea, Microsoft Korea, and Yahoo Korea. He was elected Chairman of the American Chamber of Commerce in Korea (AMCHAM) in 2014, and since 2017 has served as its Chairman and CEO, contributing to the successful entry of global companies into the Korean market and to a healthier business environment. In his advisory role, he plans to focus on expanding ICONLOOP's enterprise business, setting overall business direction, and establishing high-level strategy.

"Having spent a long career in the IT industry running global companies, I saw clear value in blockchain as next-generation IT infrastructure, and I believe ICONLOOP has ample growth potential given its track record and achievements to date," said Advisor James Kim. "Now that the blockchain industry is moving beyond its nascent stage toward genuine adoption, this is a critical period for ICONLOOP to expand its business in more concrete and substantive forms," he added. "I will spare no effort in helping ICONLOOP move beyond its growth so far and become a global IT company that leads on the international stage."

"ICONLOOP has solidified its position in Korea's blockchain industry as a technology partner to organizations including the Seoul Metropolitan Government, the National Election Commission, the Korea Financial Investment Association, and Kyobo Life Insurance," said ICONLOOP CEO JH Kim. "This year we have continued our push into global business as well — jointly pursuing a smart city project using blockchain with the World Smart Sustainable Cities Organization (WeGO), and signing an agreement with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), a UN agency, on cooperation in developing a blockchain-based smart incubator program." He added, "It is an honor to move into global markets alongside Advisor James Kim, who has already built pioneering experience and expertise at numerous global IT companies."
