ICONLOOP launched a blockchain-based joint authentication system "CHAIN ID" for the Korea financial investment association, operating the service.
BACKGROUND
- Previously, any financial transaction required USB sticks or other storage devices storing the financial authentication certificates and users had to register the certificates again whenever they tried to use a new security company and go through inconvenient processes.
- This lead to the need of launching a joint authentication system that can be commonly used for any security company in a convenient and safe manner.
SOLUTION
- ICONLOOP made joint efforts with the Korea financial investment association who has all security companies with live financial transactions as its members to launch the CHAIN ID that can play the role of the financial authentication certificate on ICONLOOP's private blockchain network, enabling all 26 participants support financial transactions without additional registration of the financial authentication certificate.
- This reduces the authentication cost with the electronic signature system without the middleman of additional authentication institution.
- Users can store their private authentication keys on their own devices in a convenient and safe manner.
PROGRESS / RESULT
- ICONLOOP has integrated centralized authentication certificates issued by individual financial companies into the DID, suggesting the future direction of the blockchain-based DID system.
- This has become the foundation of ICONLOOP's DID business.

Mobile gold exchange service "CENGold" - Gold, silver, and other jewelries are tokenized and users can invest in the jewelries with small amount of money.
BACKGROUND
- Trading gold requires higher trading fees compare to those of trading other financial assets and the gap between buying prices and selling prices is relatively big. These issues only get significant when actually buying real gold.
- Many people pick gold as a stable asset, but they figure out the trading fees are quite a burden when they actually try to trade gold.
- This requires a model that gives easier trading experience and lower trading fees by tokenizing gold.
SOLUTION
- With utilizing blockchain technologies, it is possible to record gold on the blockchain network by tokenizing real gold.
- Users can exchange real gold with mobile gold token "eGold" and trade the tokens at the mobile gold exchange platform, CENGold.
- By not trading actual gold, it is possible to narrow the price gap into zero while users can enjoy 0.5% of low trading fees. Tokenized gold can be divided into smaller pieces, making people invest in gold with small amount of money and lowering the huddle for gold trade.

Kyobo Life launched blockchain-based smart insurance claim platform
BACKGROUND
- Before the launch, it was possible to claim the insurance money after going through long and inconvenient processes like issuing required papers, authentication, making claim letters, and sending the letters via fax or mail.
- In case of loss insurance dealing with relatively small amount money, it was required to develop a system where the process can be streamlined so that people can easily send the necessary papers and claim the insurance money.
SOLUTION
- Using blockchain technologies, it is possible to streamline the authentication process by eliminating the process of face to face authentication and issuing papers.
- Various certificates and receipts can be issued right away via blockchain network and shared inside the app serivce.
PROGRESS / RESULT
- Although the process and principle are exactly same as the previous model, the new model successfully streamlined the process via blockchain technologies at the back-end,. It proves that this effort can have a huge positive impact on real life problems and create a new service even though this is not a complete overhaul and innovation.

- Seoul city has had various needs for blockchain-based projects requiring authentication process such as voting, making used-car history records, giving unemployed benefits for young job seekers, and public works, but it did not have a perfect blockchain-based platform that can be customized for different events.
SOLUTION
- With the smart contract technology in blockchain, voting records and used-car history records which require data reliability can be precisely recorded and stored.
- By eliminating papers and autmatically checking out the qualifications via blockchain technologies, it was possible to design a trustworthy authentication system.
- The smart contract can be utilized to generate a work environment based on the mutual trust between part-time employees and employers.

- This is considered to be a great case of successful cooperation between a local government and blockchain company, leading to the ideation, planning, and establishment of a blockchain-based service resolving problems in real life.

BACKGROUND
- Previously it was difficult to establish a fair and transparent online voting system for elections, policy making, suggestions by citizens, and so on.
- There have been always transparancy and security issues in terms of online voting and repeated authentication processes for every election lowered the participation rates.
SOLUTION
- By implementing blockchain technologies into the existing online voting system, it was possible to improve transparency, security, and convenience. A new blockchain-based authentication service for institutions and voters who use the online voting system is newly implemented as well.
- Thanks to the blockchain-based authentication, users do not need to repeat the authentication process whenever there is an election and can participate in online elections repeatedly. Elections require the highest level of data reliability than any other field. Implementing blockchain technologies can ensure the maximum level of convenience and thrustworthy at the same time.

A pilot project to build an integrated management platform for chronic diseases in Gangwon-do based on blockchain
BACKGROUND
- Due to geographical reasons, those living in Gangwon-do in Korea have difficulty visiting hospitals. But in particular, chronic disorder patients who need to be continuously diagnosed and treatments would have many difficulties to receive the proper care in reality.
- Lacking in systemic management and storage on medical information, which would be the most sensitive personal information. There was a need to implement a system that can support chronic disease patients under a circumstance where patients have difficuties visiting hospitals often.
SOLUTION
- It is possible to store and manage blockchain-based health data by collecting the health data of chronic disease patients with IoMT devices all the time and implementing DID technologies to store and manage personal medical information. It is possible to remotely monitor the data collected with IoMT by applying AI technologies and to provide functions such as incentives for proactive health practices.
- Individuals can possess and manage the sensitive health data for themselves via DID technologies, achieving increased security and reliability of data.

POSCO implemented a DID-based resident and visitor management system into the integrated management system of Change Up Ground, the startup incubator facility
BACKGROUND
- The startup incubator facility "Change Up Ground" operated by POSCO lacked in a multi-functional mobile ID system that can manage the number of residents, authentication, and the access control for the residents and vistors of partner companies. POSCO decided to implement the blockchain-based DID service to address all the issues.
SOLUTION
- This DID-based integrated management system can meet the needs of issuing authentication information to POSCO, POSTECH, and residents of Change Up Ground. With this system, many functions required to operate Change Up Ground such as entrance control, visitor authentication, parking control, and meeting room reservation can be included in the DID.
- The personal information issued as such will be stored at individuals' devices and only the owners can submit the information. It is also easy to add or delete additional functions later.

- Various functions such as visitor authentication and entrance control are included in the DID system using blockchain technologies. This can be a proof that DID technologies can grow and expand by showing greater utility than conventional ID that only has a function of identification.
